As Andy Bernard once said, “I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before you’ve actually left them.” That is how you will feel once you finally finish “The Office.”
Written in a mockumentary style by Greg Daniels, the show is based off the British show of the same title.
The show is centered around Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. In a failing paper industry, the employees of the company must sell paper by any means necessary.
The show stars Steve Carell as Michael Scott, who is an eccentric, narcissistic and loveable idiot. He is the regional manager of the Scranton branch for Dunder Mifflin. He loves paper, “That’s what she said” jokes and being the center of attention.
The five-time Emmy Award-winning TV show also follows the complicated relationship of Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson). Jim’s favorite activity is pranking Dwight, from moving his desk in the office, to sending him emails from himself in the future, to having his actor friend pretend to be him so that Dwight gets confused. At the end of the day, these two are the best friends in the office, and they both love and hate each other equally.
Besides the relationship between Jim and Dwight, the relationship between Jim and Pam (Jenna Fischer) is even more complicated. In the early seasons, Jim is Pam’s best friend. Pam is engaged to a guy named Roy, and Jim has to swallow his pride and watch the girl he is in love with be with someone else. As the show progresses, Jim and Pam’s relationship intensifies. Spoiler Alert: Jim and Pam end up getting married and become everyone’s favorite couple.
“The Office” is easy to binge-watch for anyone, because nearly every episode has its own storyline, so every episode will make you laugh. Many episodes have celebrity guest appearances, such as Kathy Bates, James Spader, and Will Ferrell. The episodes are also only about 22 minutes long, so you can watch many episodes in a short amount of time.
Another reason why “The Office” is one of the best comedies to watch is because side characters are just as funny as the main characters. From Andy singing, to Creed’s mysterious former life, to all of Michael’s girlfriends, this show has something to laugh about in every single episode.
Also, the show has so much character development. You will love every character for different reasons, and every character will make you laugh hysterically. This show will always leave you satisfied and smiling (that’s what she said).
