Few bars on the Southside have the atmosphere, hype and name recognition of Jimmy D’s on Carson Street.  With no cover charge other than on New Year’s Eve, Jimmy D’s is a place where college students can have a great time, but more importantly, it’s a place they can afford.

From personal experience, I’ve always said that “all good nights end at Jimmy D’s.”  The bar features the city’s largest bar dance floor, affordable drinks and an atmosphere that has been unmatched in any of my trips downtown to bar hop.

According to an email from bartender Chelsea Halker, “Jimmy D’s is a great spot for college kids, because we offer a nice, modern, large/open, safe facility and environment with great drink specials (reasonable prices across the board), the best DJs in the city nightly, a large dance floor, never a cover charge and of course the energy is unmatched.”

If you’re like me and had no idea what a pickleball shot was until now, it is a shot of one of various spirits chased by pickle juice.  Jimmy D’s offers Jameson, Espolan, or American Honey for the shot, followed by either its sweet, spicy, or original flavor of pickle juice.

The $3 Bombs are a combination of either Vodka and Red Bull, a Jager bomb, or one of their more popular menu items, the Vegas bomb.

“You can always expect a party atmosphere—to have a great time whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just the weekend itself.  We have a state-of-the-art lighting and speaker system that keeps up with clubs in major markets—the bass itself will put you in the mood to dance even if you weren’t feeling it,” said Halker.  “Jimmy D’s has been around since 1991, making it 25+ years old and still one of the hottest nightclubs and bars in Pittsburgh.”

So the next time you head downtown on a night out, try and find your way to Jimmy D’s on Carson.  Based on price, atmosphere and experience, it’s a place you’ll want to frequent more and more often.  Perhaps now, maybe your best nights will also end at Jimmy D’s.
