The Frozen Four is returning earlier than expected, as the Boston Herald reported that it would take place in Boston in 2021 and Pittsburgh in 2022. Instead, Boston will host the Frozen Four in 2022, according to the Post-Gazette.
Pittsburgh was awarded 22 NCAA preliminary rounds and finals from 2017-18 through 2021-22, the most of any city. Pittsburgh will host other events such as the Division I wrestling final and the women’s volleyball final in 2019, reports the Post-Gazette.
2021 will be the second time Pittsburgh has hosted the Frozen Four. The first time, in 2013, Yale beat Quinnipiac to win the national championship, according to the Post-Gazette.
